Know exactly where the money went

Track estimates vs. actuals with line items that auto-link to crew rates and equipment costs — with a Days × Units multiplier and per-day/city itemised breakdowns for the way productions really spend.

  • Days × Units multiplier — e.g. 7 nights × 3 rooms × rate
  • Itemise any line per day or city — estimates and actuals both
  • Budget items auto-link to crew, equipment, locations, and art
  • Crew timesheet actuals flow into the budget automatically
  • PDF, Excel & CSV export — multi-day totals that reconcile

New · May 2026Script Supervision · Auto-lining · Camera Log redesign

Camera log, supervision log, and script lining — finally talking to each other.

Pick a scene in the Camera Log and your shots from the Shot List appear as cards. Click + Add Take and roll/lens/T-stop carry forward. Behind the scenes, every take auto-fills a row in the Script Supervision Log — separate tab, ready for the supervisor to add dialogue changes and pages covered. Mark a shot complete in the Shot List and the script auto-lines, color-coded by coverage. Open the script reader and the lining shows up in the scene chapters.

Camera Log driven by Shot List
Scene picker → shot sections → +Add Take clones the previous take's settings. The AC types clip name and rolls.
Script Supervision Log
Auto-fills from camera log. Edit dialogue changes / script notes / pages covered. Export the Daily Script Supervisor's Report PDF at wrap.
Auto-lining
Mark a shot complete; the script auto-lines the linked scene, color-coded by coverage type. Refine ranges manually in the script reader's Lining mode.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does pricing work?

Three tiers. Free gets you 2 projects, 50 budget items, 15 crew, 5 shoot days, and call sheet sending to 10 recipients × 3 sends per project — no credit card required. Pro is $12/month or $99/year for individual producers: unlimited personal projects, clean PDFs, in-app script reader, Script Supervision Log + auto-lining, Excel / CSV / Movie Magic Budget import, crew payroll. Team is $20 per user per month (or $199 per user per year) — flat per-seat pricing with no base fee and no minimums, where every seat gets the full Team feature suite (shared project access, budget Globals & Fringes, cross-org equipment sharing + partner splits, unlimited call sheet recipients & sends, full equipment accounting, real-time multi-tab sync, custom org logos). Seats are billed to the organisation admin's card and prorate when teammates join or leave. Freelancers invited to a single project are always free to collaborate — the paying project owner handles exports and sends.

How does sending call sheets work?

Click Send Call Sheet next to Export PDF on any saved call sheet. Pick the crew + cast for the day (anyone with an email is pre-checked), optionally add a personal note, and Production Slate emails the PDF to everyone with a unique Confirm Receipt link. Recipients click the link and your delivery board updates live — no login required for them. The status panel shows who's confirmed, who hasn't, and any failed sends, refreshing every 15 seconds.

What happens to my data if I stop using it?

Your data is yours. Export everything as PDFs (budgets, call sheets, shot lists, DOOD reports, calendars) or download all your data as a single JSON file from Settings. Your account and all project data remain accessible indefinitely — we don't delete accounts for inactivity. Behind the scenes, encrypted backups of the entire database run nightly to independent off-site storage.

What types of productions is it built for?

Films, shorts, music videos, commercials, branded content, web series, and TV. If your production has a crew, a budget, and a schedule, Production Slate fits.

Can I collaborate with my team?

Yes. Invite crew and collaborators to your project, set roles, and control which pages each person can access. Create an organization and every new project is shared automatically.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes. Production Slate is a progressive web app that works on any device — iPhone, iPad, Android, or desktop. Add it to your home screen for quick access on set.

Is my data secure?

Yes. 256-bit encryption, row-level security on every table, HTTPS everywhere, industry-standard authentication, and encrypted nightly backups to independent off-site storage. Your data is stored in a secure, isolated database — not a shared spreadsheet.
